ORDER OF BUSINESS: ------------------ READING OF MINUTES: No Minutes were read. A. TREASURER'S REPORT No Treasurer activity, no spending. However, did send requested bank statements to Marj Dyrnes. Not a part of the report, but the Treasurer did accept a $25 prorated membership check from Don Kozikci to renew his membership for this year. B. SECRETARY'S REPORT Secretary reports looking for alternative meeting places (restaurants) with meeting rooms. C. WEBMASTER'S REPORT ORCNET Webmaster is having trouble contacting Oregon IEEE Webmaster. Still working on EECONSULT.ORG site. D. MISC. REPORTS H. Joe Tabor reported on Northcon. OLD BUSINESS: Discussed need for Program Coordinator. Henri Joyaux agreed to take this position. Thank you Henri. DISCUSSIONS: Regarding future programs, Joe suggested invited speaker topics of Environmental Testing, ESD, EM Testing, and the artistic side of Web pages. Interesting Discussion initiated by Keith Loftstrom on=20 Linux, including issues on installation, malicious hacker countermeasures, K Office, Gimp. Seemingly Linux isn't quite ready for a lot of engineering=20 applications, but is moving rapidly forward.=20 Valuable Discussion on marketing tools to help the group at large, such as customized business card holders and ORCNET brochures. A group logo was suggested. Personal pens suggested. It is suggested that the ORCNET web site is still most important, but these other tools are desired as well. We are all encouraged to create a new logo for ORCNET. The Denny's restaurant was not entirely satisfactory, as it is a smoking facility, and opening the door to allow ventilation brings in all the highway noise of interstate I5. Members are all urged for suggestions of better locations. We considered a center of mass location. We considered Hwy 26 location. NEW BUSINESS: Nominations are needed (ALREADY!) for Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and Webmaster. We need to make nominations by next meeting (October) so that we can elect our officers in final yearly meeting this December. A new meeting place is needed. Next location chosen to be same Denny's restaurant on 4th Thursday of October. This will be October 25, 2001. ADJOURN Wemaster makes motion to Adjourn. ***Meeting adjourned at 9:00PM.*** Submitted for approval by H. Joe Tabor, Secretary
