07 Dec 2000, 22:00 WHAT: Minutes of December 2000 ORCNET Meeting WHEN: Thursday, December 7th, 2000 WHERE: Carrows, in Tigard 18:30 - Gathering began: chat, eat There are 8 Members and 1 Guest present. There is no Presentation scheduled for this evening. 19:30 - Call to Order & announcements 1. We discussed Concentration Banking. General agreement that we'll lose, or risk losing, control of our funds. 2. It was noted that we have never received any of the funds promised us by Bill Anderson as an inducement to become affiliated with the IEEE as an "Affinity Group". 3. It was noted that the Bylaws of the Oregon Section of the IEEE contain no language regarding "Affinity Groups". They have not added us to their structure. 4. It was noted that the Oregon IEEE has, or will soon posess, our funds, but that they will not automatically forward them to us; we must "apply" all over again. 5. It was noted that our Bylaws permit our Treasurer to set our membership fees to any appropriate value. 5. It was suggested that we reduce the annual membership fee to $0, thus accumulating fewer funds in the future. 6. It was suggested that we use our present funds to purchase an educational course for the Members. 7. It was agreed that, even though the Concentration Banking Scheme, and our continued affiliation are issues, we should send out the annual renewal notification to all Members. 8. It was noted that we should post our Bylaws on the web. 9. Our next meeting was scheduled for the 4th Thursday in January 2001. 21:30 - Adjourn Submitted for your approval by: Pat Barrett, ORCNET 2000 Chair, pbarrett@ieee.org
